Est. 2010; when I was just 16 years old, I knew my future would involve animals. A passion that helped encourage me mentally and financially through Veterinary Technology school where I achieved my Associates in animal medicine. Years later Safe At Home Pet Sitting has traveled throughout the East Bay of California to provide adequate in home pet care for those in need, resulting in well over 100 satisfied clients.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to meet you before service?
Yes. The initial consultation is free of charge and generally lasts about 30 -60 minutes depending on the needs of your pets/house. You’ll need to have two working house keys available for the sitter at the time of the meeting in preparation of the first visit.
What happens at the free consultation/get acquainted meeting?
We will get to meet you and your pets, go over all of your instructions, tour the areas of your home you want the pet sitter to access, and answer all of your questions. Presuming there is mutual agreement that the pet sitter is a good fit to watch your pets, keys will also be collected. Please have 2 fully tested copies of your key available at that time.
Are there any extra charges?
There is a $5/visit and $10/overnight surcharge on major holidays. There is no additional per pet charge so long as care can be completed within the time scheduled.
Why hire a professional pet sitter?
Your pet remains in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by familiar things (bed, toys, smells, sounds, etc.).
Your Pet(s) wont be exposed to possible pathological diseases, stress , zoonotic illnesses or possibly parasites.
Your pet stays on their same diet and exercise routine.
Your pet receives personalized attention while you are gone.
Your pet receives care customized for their individual needs.
Your pet doesn’t have to travel in a car or be in an unfamiliar environment.
The pet sitter can give your home a “lived-in” look by picking up your newspaper, mail, putting out and bringing in trash cans, watering plants, rotating lights, etc.
Will you provide updates on how my pet is doing while I am away?
A daily update is included in vacation sits, if desired. The update can be via email or text. In addition, the sitter is available to you by cell phone 24/7, if should you have any questions or concerns.
Can we contact you while we are away? Or will you contact us?
Feel free to instruct your pet sitter to send you an email, text or voice mail on whatever frequency makes you most comfortable. Your peace of mind is important to Safe at Home. You are always welcome to contact the the pet sitter anytime.
How do I go about paying for my pet sitting or dog walking?
Payment via cash or check or venmo / paypal is due on the first date of service. Please let the pet sitter know where payment will be left prior to your departure. An invoice (via email) will be provided prior to your departure with the amount due.
What if I want to Cut Short or extend my vacation time?
As payment is collected on the first day, if you by chance want to end your vacation early there will be a 70% return, we understand emergencies may happen and plans change, due to our reservation policy of first come first serve, those days could of been used else where. If You want to extend your Vacation, we ask that you reach out and verify we have the following days available so we can see to the continuing care of your beloved pets.
